Miscarriage and Paternal Age
The results of a study were released last year linking miscarriage and increased paternal age. Just what we all wanted to hear. Not only does it link an increased paternal age with miscarriage but also such doozies as schizophrenia (because as men age there are more defects in their sperm). You can read the article here.

Yes risk of miscarriage increases with advancing paternal age, but unfortunately risk of genetic disorders of all kinds increases with the age of the father at the birth of a child. Sperm making cells and sperm collect DNA mutations as a man ages.
Paternal Age is quite a big deal and the male biological clock is a very powerful determiner of genetic health of offspring.
Of course the severity of the effect on offspring, beside depending how old the father is, also depends on what has happened to the man's genes in past generations and by exposures to toxins in his life. The rate of disease increases at a rate that is greater than linear with advancing paternal age.

Dr. Ethylin Wang Jabs said in 2002,
"Importantly, disorders linked to advancing paternal age begin to increase rapidly at about the same time as maternal risks increase -- age 33 to 35. Until now, the only evidence for paternal age effects has come from determining how many children with these diseases are born to fathers of various ages."
I have been researching this issue, and was surprised by what I found. If more research were funded, more diseases and disorders, I'm sure would be found to increase with increasing paternal age.
